Excellent tab and value for money. The form factor and weight of tab is excellent for reading books pdf etc and general browsing. No lags and battery backup is good too. The screen brightness at lowest is still high – however it can be solved by installing brightness dimming apps from google play store. No heating issues either. No Sim slot but that can be advantage too if you just intend to use it for reading books and browsing via wifi. Saves battery from cellular network usage.
[...]Display is good enough to read books etc. Whatsapp web version can be used if you pair your tab with phone by scanning QR code.
Tip: Install greenify to conserve battery on tab.
Build quality is good enough .No earphones etc supplied. External 3G dongle can probably be attached but not tested it yet.
Android version stays on 5.1 even after update but for general use, it’s not an issue.
gestures are supported for opening the screen by double tapping on it.
For my purpose – reading and browsing = good enough. Satisfied.

pros:
[...]1) no heating issues while normal and lite heavy usage.
2)battery back up up to 6 to 7 hrs so we can watch 3 to 4 movies in single charge.
3)viewing screen angle is superb
4)sound also good
5)its supports otg and also lan Ethernet.and i think dongle are also support but i am not sure.
6)antutu benchmark is around 26000 its so good at the price of 4999 rs
7)gpu is mali 450 mp4 and 1 gb of ram ( free is 522 mb) and rom is 8 gb ( free is 4.10gb)
8) less no of pre install app
9) few cons only and we can adjust it at the price level
cons:
1)charging time taken 3.40 hrs 0% to 100% i think its normal only. i have zenfone 5 it take 4hrs to complete 100%. comparing to this its good.
2)double tab to power off is not working but power on working
3)accessories is less in number
conclusion: this is good product for mid high user at this price 4999 rs and you can use screen off app for power off the screen.
comparing to Lenovo Tab 2 A7-20, Lenovo tab 3 A710F is best one.

Update (Jan 2018): After 7 months of usage with Android 5 and with 1 GB Ram, 8 GB storage, the tab is as basic as it gets in 2018
This is my second 7 inch Tablet from Lenovo. My Older Tablet (Lenovo Tab 2 A7) was bought in Oct 2015.
MY REQUIREMENTS – Tablet Size 7 inch (comfortable to hold by a 5-6 year old), Should not cost much, Good Battery Backup, Good Service Support. SIM card connectivity wasn’t important at all since the Tab will never be used for calling and I can always use the HotSpot feature of my 4G mobile phone anytime in case there is no Wi-Fi around.
LENOVO TAB 3 7 ESSENTIAL POSITIVES:
+ PRICE: One of the most economically priced from a Major Manufacturer.
+ DDR 3 RAM: The older Tab 3 A7 had a 1 GB DDR2 RAM, this one has a 1 GB DDR3 RAM, rest of the specs is exactly same. But this small upgrade seemed to have worked, as the Tab seems to be a bit more capable and snappy now
+ GOOD BUILD: Solid construction, feels nice to touch. A bit of heft is there but feels nice.
+ DECENT BATTERY BACKUP: On a full charge the Tablet lasts around 7-8 hours
+ SCREEN QUALITY: The display is not HD. It’s just 1200 x 600 pixels resolution. But the clarity is actually good for its specs. I had the opportunity to compare similar resolution Tablet screens from other brands like iBall, Micromax etc. (in a Reliance Digital Store) and I can safely say that the screen clarity and sharpness of the Lenovo Tab 3 Essential is better than similar spec other brands.
+ SCREEN BRIGHTNESS: The Screen is Bright, definitely brighter than my old Lenovo Tab 2 A7
+ OVERALL PERFORMANCE: With its limited RAM size, Screen Resolution and Internal Memory, the Tab performance is acceptable. Just don’t go crazy with muti tasking and expect lightning fast response.
LENOVO TAB 3 7 ESSENTIAL NEGATIVES:
– THICK BEZELS: Surprisingly the screen bezels on my Older Lenovo Tab 2 A7 was slimmer than this one
– OLDER VERSION OF ANDROID: Android version on the Tab is Android v5 Lollypop. Latest version of Android (Nougat) is 2 generations ahead now. Do not see the OS being upgraded.
– COST CUTTING: No light sensor, No internal motor for haptic feedback
NOTE: The Screen is bit more reflective to my liking but then with a Tempered Glass Screen protector on, all of them end up being similarly reflective does it?
VERDICT: For The Price, this is the BEST Tab from a Reputed Brand. It’s got a decent build and is a very good Tab to keep kindergarten kids busy and even for light personal use especially for it’s Price.

I had high expectations from a trusted brand like Lenovo, but this product has been a huge disappointment. Right from the first week, it started overheating even with light usage. The battery life is terrible – it drains within a couple of hours even when I’m just browsing or doing simple tasks.
What’s worse is that I can’t even run basic apps like YouTube smoothly. The device lags and hangs constantly. Total waste of money. Definitely not expected this kind of poor quality from Lenovo. I strongly advise others to avoid this product. Very frustrating experience!
